Interns needed

INTERNS NEEDED

Location: Remote and hybrid

Positions: Caseworker, Fundraising, Community engagement and outreach, Refugee Settlement worker

Department: Different departments

Compensation: Unpaid

Application Deadline: 11:59pm Eastern Time on August 1, 2025

As an intern, you will assist in delivering frontline support services to black newcomers and refugees. These roles offer hands-on experience in case management, referrals, documentation and community member-centered support under the supervision of the programs coordinator.

Caseworker

Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to newcomers and refugees through needs assessments, service planning, and referrals.
Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
Help clients access services such as housing, legal aid, health care, and employment.
Advocate for client rights within various service systems.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Social Work, Community Services, or related field.
Experience working with diverse, marginalized communities.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and crisis intervention skills.

Fundraising Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement fundraising campaigns, including donor outreach, grant writing, and event planning.
Manage donor databases and prepare reports.
Cultivate relationships with individual donors, community partners, and corporate sponsors.
Qualifications:
Background in fundraising, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field.
Strong writing, communication, and planning skills.
Knowledge of fundraising platforms and donor engagement tools.

Community Engagement and Outreach Worker

Key Responsibilities:
Build relationships with newcomer communities and service partners.
Coordinate outreach campaigns, events, and engagement initiatives.
Develop culturally responsive materials and facilitate workshops or info sessions.
Gather community feedback to inform program development.
Qualifications:
Experience in community engagement, advocacy, or outreach roles.
Strong public speaking, facilitation, and networking skills.
Multilingual ability and lived experience as a newcomer are assets.

Refugee Settlement Worker

Key Responsibilities:
Support refugee clients in adjusting to life in Canada through orientation, system navigation, and referral services.
Help with housing, health appointments, education enrollment, and social integration.
Work collaboratively with government and nonprofit partners to coordinate services.
Qualifications:
Experience in refugee settlement or similar roles.
Knowledge of immigration and refugee systems in Canada.
Cultural humility and trauma-informed practice are essential.
